ABOUT STRUCTDESIGN

Founded in 2009 by Jan F.R. van der Westhuizen (Pr.Tech.Eng.), StructDesign is a South African-based Engineering firm specialising in innovative structural solutions across diverse sectors, including commercial, industrial, residential, and mining.

With over 1500 successfully completed projects of varying sizes, StructDesign has built a reputation for excellence in structural design, delivering tailored, efficient, and sustainable solutions to clients locally and internationally.

Jan F.R. van der Westhuizen, founder and managing member has over 28 years of experience in Structural and Civil Engineering. He brings unparalleled expertise to StructDesign. His qualifications include a B.Tech in Civil: Structural Engineering, with additional certifications in heavy industrial design, bridge engineering, and project management.

He is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and is a member of several professional bodies, including IPET and the Southern African Institute of Steel Construction.

HENDRIKS HOUSE DESIGN

This project highlights the precision of structural engineering through the integration of reinforced concrete slabs, steel beams, and large glass panels. The engineer’s role included designing the cantilevered roof slabs to carry loads safely while coordinating the steel framing system for strength and stability. By balancing concrete, steel, and glass, the design achieves both structural efficiency and a sleek, modern architectural expression.
